Valley and Ridge

This province is characterized by widely varied topography ranging from the towering Kittatinny ridge to the sinkhole ponds and swamps of the limestone region. The valley & ridge boasts the state's highest diversity of Odonata as a result. Many northern species such as Kennedy’s Emerald and Subarctic Darner are found only in this province. In spite of the amount of attention this province has received we are still finding new species here year after year. Newcomers to this field are therefore encouraged to keep their eyes open when visiting this part of the state.
