Range & Habitat:

Ranges over most of the state relatively early in the season, before most Enallagma bluets

Description:

A medium large damselfly that looks like one of the "black" bluets but usually perches with slightly open wings like a spreadwing.

Thorax has a broad irregular black dorsal stripe, and a spot of yellow on the lower side.

 

Conservation Status:

State: S5 - Demonstrably secure in the state

Global: G5 - Secure globally, but possibly rare in parts of its range
