Range & Habitat:

Known locally from Passaic, Sussex and Morris counties, its early flight season and similarity to Ashy Clubtail may cause it to be overlooked.

Description:

Very similar to Ashy Clubtail, best told by the straight frontal stripes without a Z-type posterior extension. See the Slender Clubtail ID page for more detail or take the ID quiz!

 

Conservation Status:

State: S2S3 - Rare to imperiled in New Jersey

Global: G5 - Secure globally, but possibly rare in parts of its range
